About
The Home Barista Guide exists for one reason: great coffee shouldn't require guesswork. Whether you're buying your first espresso machine, carving a coffee bar out of a small kitchen, or trying to brew something decent in a hotel room, the internet will happily drown you in conflicting advice, sponsored rankings, and jargon. We'd rather give you a straight answer.
Who runs this site
The site is run by an espresso enthusiast who brews every day on a Terra Kaffe TK-02 and has spent years falling down the home-coffee rabbit hole — the gear, the technique, the café hunts in new cities. Every guide on this site is accuracy-checked against real, daily kitchen experience.
How the guides are made
Our guides are research-driven: published specifications, long-term owner feedback, repairability and real-world practicality, and established brewing knowledge. We cite owner experience when that's what we're drawing on — and we're upfront about what we don't do:
- No fake lab testing. We don't operate a test lab, and we won't dress up opinions in white coats.
- No star ratings from "hands-on reviews" we didn't conduct. When a recommendation comes from specs and owner consensus, we say so.
- No sponsored placements. Rankings aren't for sale. Affiliate commissions never influence what we recommend — read our full disclosure.
What we cover
The site is organized around three pillars:
- Coffee — brewing, gear, and technique: espresso machines, grinders, troubleshooting.
- Home — the home café: setups, stations, and entertaining.
- Travel — coffee on the road: portable gear, brewing anywhere, café guides.
We're just getting started — new guides are added regularly.
